Have you been practicing? I have!  OK folks I know lots of you have our DVDs and those of you who don’t must be crazy or lazy :) We use this stuff all the time. Just yesterday I have the opportunity to do it again in an everyday way.

I was visiting Kim’s parents house up in Knoxville Tennessee. After our LONG trip to Europe we went up to visit and pick up Buddy, Kim’s dog. We were getting ready to leave when we decided to hang around for dinner. After looking around we discovered there was not enough of any one thing to cook for 8 people. I was elected to run to KFC to get some chicken. Not my first choice but it was fast.

I hop in my Jeep and head to KFC. As enter I notice I am the only customer in there. The staff was less than motivated to give me great service. Of the three I saw I picked the guy that seemed most awake. I used the Magical Rapport stuff on him and he lit up. As I walked up he asked if he could help me. I said ” Well I am stuck, I am trying to do math” , as I stared at the menu board with a glazed of confused look. He laughed and I anchored it.

I asked how much extra biscuits would be while firing the anchor. He told me 4 dollars more. I said, ” Damn more math”.

All this time I used positions of power. I switched from equal to subordinate as I talked and let him lead me to the best choice. I finally said that I would take the extra biscuits. He rung it up and it was 43 dollars. My first thought was..DAMN…43 dollars for KFC? I said  ”OOOUCH”, as I fired the anchor and moved to equal. Then he started looking at a chart because the register.

So You Want To Be A Super Hero

I began my adventure in self-improvement much like many other people. I was not satisfied with my life and wanted more. So I set out into the jungle of self-help with nothing but a desire and an open mind. It lead me into some very weird directions. I had heard that I could become powerful by looking into alternative ways of thinking.

At first it all seemed quite logical. I had to go off the beaten path and into the land where more things were possible. My first adventure lead me into the land of new age thinking. This is where things like “The Secret” and “The Law of Attraction” dwell. While these products are quite new the concepts behind them are decades old. All you have to do is believe and have happy thoughts and your life will be wonderful. If your life is not wonderful then the universe is trying to teach you a lesson. It seemed like a new concept but it also sounded a lot like many religions I had looked into. BTW….never mention that point to a new age believer.

Now add the idea that crystals and objects could guard you from bad energy or enhance good energy. Then add in some astrology, runes, candles and magical thinking for good measure. I understand the good intentions of this, but after a while I could see that it was not working for me.

Then I was off to the land of positive thinking. All I had to do was stay positive and see the good in every situation. My collection of books came from a very interesting source…..foreclosed houses. Yes, I was working remodeling houses that had been foreclosed on. When we went in to do the estimates on fixing them up, there was always a pile of stuff that the previous owners left behind. So I have a ton of books and get rich quick programs that obviously don’t work. I gave it an honest shot, but again all I really accomplished was becoming more annoying to be around.

My next stop was to learn hypnosis. As I entered that realm I encountered people who claimed to have super powers. The could make people do things. They could have photographic memories. They could cure disease. They could control their healing. Wow…I was sure I had found the answer I was looking for. While some people I met were quite reasonable, there were others who were delusional. They began to really believe they were super heroes with special powers.  They held seminars where they said that you could become a super hero too.

How I wasted hours of my time today

Yes I had a guy who is trying to start a business. I agreed to help him get his mindset right so he could succeed.

I am not sure how many of you have been in the position of trying to help someone who thinks they already know everything. It can be a frustrating experience. This guy has one simple problem. He thinks he already knows what his customers are thinking. So he does not listen to them. he is so stuck in what he thinks they need that he does not listen to what they want.

So many people do this on a daily basis when talking to people. They just won’t listen. They already have their mind made up and are convinced that they are right. No matter what your interaction  is like if you are all output and no input then you can’t possibly have any influence over who you are talking to.

I was recently at a meeting with a company that we are doing some sales trainings for. What is new for this company is that before now, they never had to sell. They had a great product and they are the top of the market. In the meeting I asked the training manager what his goal was. Then I shut up. Then I listened. This was a phone conference so all I had was my ability to listen.

A minute in he made a statement that I could tell meant something to him. I could hear the emotion in that statement. It was important to him. So I keyed on that one statement. When it was my turn to talk I told him what our plan was and then used his key statement to emphasize it. In that conversation I used it 2 more times. within a 10 minute meeting he was 100% behind hiring us to fly back to Europe and train his sales staff. He even wanted us to come back in June.
