Then… I had the company Xmas party last night. Five years ago, I snuck in hoping not to be noticed, and sat at a side table hoping to convirce as little as possible. I amped up and forced myself to go because of office politics. I remember being glad not being anywhere near the “big wigs” table. I left that party before it ended (worrying I would get in trouble for it) to go home and relax behind a locked door. I was envious of the people who could socialize with the “big wigs.” Now… Last night, I sat at one of the bosses table with the director, the former director, a board member, and their wives. I thought it would be interesting. I felt no fear or need to brown nose. No amping needed to go to the party. I was hoping for a good meal and a good door prize. No amping or fear in picking a table. Today during the party I saw this group of lovely ladies and I started playing those old limiting beliefs…..but, I decided to go ahead anyway….and DAMN! Where the hell is that stupid APPROACH ANXIETY??…… Normally at this point I would have felt like I was dragging a heavy chain attached to my heart and a sense of something close to a cardiac arrest….and the condition would become worse as I would come closer, that is fainting…. But, this time…it’s no anxiety though out, from the approach to the chat and introduction with everyone in that group, plus I introduced some of my friends to this group…THIS IS CRAZY!…Yes, there was a little increase in my heart rate, it must be excitement I guess…. Previously I had high expectations with Tom&Kim, but now my expectations have breached the sky…. |
