When they forget… everything is sales

OK I open facebook today and there is a car salesman complaining that other salespeople get a car allowance and he does not. He just does not know what to do. He complains about how it is unfair. He complains that he has a higher quota this year. BLAH BLAH BLAH.

Then he say this, “I don’t want to have to threaten to leave in order to get a car allowance”

This is why real persuasion skills are so important. The only thing this guy can think of is to threaten to leave in order to get what he wants…

Persuasion is more than about just selling. It is about how you develop and use relationships in your business, social life and family life. It is not just isolated to closing the deal.

Any monkey can use pressure and threats to sell. When I read crap like this it just shows that this person has no idea of what real persuasion is all about. They just argue until they get their way.

Persuasion is a beautiful thing. It involves quickly creating a relationship. It involves quickly finding the leverage points. It means setting anchors to trigger when you want them to take action.

When done right you don’t ever really have to close them…. they ask you to buy. The feel good about the process and … send their friends to you.

When done right your boss wants to give you a raise and creates opportunity for you.

When done right you get the job over people who are technically more qualified.

When done right you get the best service from restaurants because they like you not just because you tip big.

When done right people remember you years later even after a few minute conversation.

Life gets better in every way.

So many people forget that persuasion is not an isolated skill. It is a life skill. If you don;t have it then you will have to sit around waiting for the world to notice you and MAYBE give you a little of what you desire.

Don’t be like dumb car guy who whines and threatens his way through the world.

Less effort… More LIFE!
