It is okay folks. It is your brains fault. Someone attacks, offends, or threatens you and your first impulse is to defend yourself. It is PRIMAL… and stupid.

High emotion combined with the novelty of surprise trigger the primal reactive part of the brain and mostly bypasses the neo-cortex where you are more logical. So you do dumb things… because it FEELS good. Then when you do you get a great rush of dopamine to reward your successful retaliation!

It is not that the neocortex is not working. You KNOW you should not say what you are thinking but the primal drive is so strong you ignore your own good advice.
Hey we have all done it. Some more than others. That is the DANGER of social media. It is immediate. Instantly satisfying and horrifically PUBLIC.
I am not saying not to respond to attacks but to think before doing so. If you ever want a job then don’t post your drunk photos to Facebook or Twitter or in a text. They can literally ruin your life.
Hey I have done this. In the early days of the internet they were called flame wars. They were emotionally satisfying. They are also up there FOREVER.
What is the answer?
Get back to a BALANCED mind where the creative thinking part of your brain is balanced with the primal reactive part of your brain.
London 2014… October… Change your life forever…
