I get these emails all the time that propose that you use martial arts concepts and warrior concepts to make powerful changes in your life

The question I have is this. Who wants to wake up and go to war every day of their life? This kind of stuff appeals to the very weak minded who think that they have to be powerful in order to get anywhere in life.

Nothing could be further from the truth. To have the life you want you don’t have to be a mental warrior. As someone who has studied martial arts most of my life the warrior mindset offends me. I did not study martial arts in order to be able to beat people up. I did not study martial arts to boost my self-esteem. I did it because I liked the mindset of true martial artists. They avoid fights. They have a peace of mind. They love the ART part of it.

The marketers who promote this “warrior mindset” are taking advantage of the weak and desperate. It just irritates me. So what is the answer? There are a few things that I explained in our 30 Day Jump Start introductory seminar. If you can do these things you will have taken a powerful first step.

1. Brutally honest self-examination of what resources you have and what you need. Most people don’t have the guts to do this so they never get going. They live a fantasy life that allows them to avoid really taking a look at what about THEM is getting in the way.

2. Look at the lies you tell yourself that make doing nothing ok. More people spent time justifying why they are not doing something than actually taking the steps to get it done.

3. Pick one general direction that you want to head in. Confusion is the doorway to doing nothing. You can eliminate that by picking one direction or task. Too many people try to do 5 things at once. That splits them in 5 directions and ends up with 5 things never done.

4. Fully commit a plan of action. Commit as if there is no other choice but the one way you decided to do it. See it ALL the way through until it succeeds or fails.

5. Keep a journal of the results. If you don’t know where you have been then you have no clue what worked or did not work. You will be able to repeat success while avoiding doing the same things that failed over and over again. There is no need to go to war to have a great life.

All you need is a good plan.

  1. Yes. Love the new site too. And I like what you said here, especially step one and two up there. well all of them really.

  2. I like the new site and the formatting. It’s cleaner and it’s a central repository for everything, videos, chats, articles, etc. I hope you keep everything in one place as you have a habit of being scattered.
