This is fab stuff tom. I hadn’t thought of the similarities beween this belief and cult mentality but yes it does appear to be true.
I see that this is then leading to the idea of one flexible consciousness which i have heard you talk about. That also is just a great new understanding.
However for me when i think of one flexible conciousness i have experienced states that are similar if effect to an unconcious super self. These are experienced in specific regions of the flexible mind model, for example the awareness available to us in dreams.
If i start to map out all the different states of awareness available to me then i have to also include these areas. This is where i see some possible confusion for people. I say that because these states are similar to the old idea of unconcious /super concious but really these terms need updating. Also requiring updating are the understanding of what they are, and what we can do whilst percieving from them too. The old models are just not up to it.

The reason this bothers me so much is that you seem to include me from your comments in this group. I try to be a rationalist. That is why I don’t dismiss the ‘unconcious mind’.
